Rod packing
Rod packing has been used as a shaft-seal mechanism in a gland portion of reciprocating machines and in oil-free compressors.
The types of rod packing are as given below.
Rod packing is always stacked in pairs for use.
Their combinations are not always same but vary depending on the service conditions.

| The lifetime of piston rings/rod packing is affected by temperature. Even if the gas temperature in a compressor is set at 150°C, the surface temperature of rings will be hotter. For instance, approximately 50 to 60°C temperature increase is estimated in the case of PV=3MPa and m/sec. This requires cylinders and packing cases be water-cooled and the surface temperature of the rings be lowered. As there are a number of abrasion causes, kindly inform us of the conditions given below when you place an order. |
